Boston Harbor Hotel

Boston Harbor Hotel is an iconic hotel in Boston’s popular Seaport district. It has been around for as long as I can remember and is a pillar of the city. This is a classic hotel in a great location with beautiful views of the Boston Harbor.

THE PROPERTY

This hotel definitely gives more old school vibes when I compare it to other hotels. My daughters said it looks like a castle inside and in many ways it does feel like that. It feels very classic but also nostalgic of hotels we stayed in as children. When you walk in, you are greeted right away to an expansive entrance, tall ceilings and gaudy decor. The property nestles the Boston Harbor with sweeping views in a neighborhood that offers many entertainment options for adults and children.

THE ROOM

We had a City Double Superior suite which had two double beds and a pullout couch with desk area. It had a cute little vanity and bathroom on the side but the best part of our room was the view just overlooking the entire harbor. It was so beautiful with the big open windows just being able to take it all in. At one point there was a massive flock of birds flying around and we had so much fun watching them. Waking up to this view was so peaceful.

THE FOOD + AFTERNOON TEA

There is a restaurant on site, Rowes Wharf Sea Grille, and we had dinner there one night. It was easy to make a reservation and who was that right away when we got in staff was very friendly. We weren’t a huge fan of food but the hotel is right one of the best possible areas for food in Boston so you have so many food options right at your fingertips. I will say the room service in the morning for breakfast with actually delicious and the pastries tasted so fresh I wish I had ordered more of them!

My absolute favorite part about the hotel is that they offer afternoon tea and if you know me, you know how much me and my girls just love love love afternoon tea. This is a fun little activity to do with the kids and the desserts were so delicious and the treats were so fun to eat. The tea was also really good and they had an array of options for you to choose from. I love that it was loose leaf tea and not tea bags. It’s a bit more expensive than other afternoon teas I’ve been to with at $85 per person, but it’s a very cute and you get to look at the beautiful Boston Harbor as you enjoy your tea.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

When I was growing up here, there wasn’t really much in the Seaport part of Boston. I actually used to work in Seaport and it was just a lot of industrial office buildings and not too much of a nightlife. Since then, they have developed the area so much and Boston Harbor Hotel is right in the center of it. There are so many things to do in the neighborhood and so many attractions to see. It’s walking distance to the New England Aquarium and the Boston Children’s Museum so if you’re traveling with kids is the perfect location especially if you’re visiting in the colder months. The nightlife is excellent in this area as well as some of the best restaurants in the city. (You must visit Lolita Seaport if you go) There are lots of places to shop, playgrounds for the kiddos, and beautiful areas to rest and enjoy the beauty of the harbor. There is a cute carousel the kids can ride in the warmer weather too ('it’s closed in the winter) that is near the Aquarium and across from Faneuil Hall which offers more shopping, dining, souvenir shops and Quincy market which is a great place to try authentic Boston chowder (or chowdah, if you say it properly). Faneuil Hall is stunning during Christmas time with a large tree lighting ceremony. The ICA museum is also in the area offering modern art and has weekly events you can check out on their site. In the winter, Seaport offers a Christmas market with specialty foods and niche shopping. It’s really cute and the closest you’ll get to a the beautiful Christmas markets they have in Europe. Overall, it’s in a great location and you will not be short of things to do and see (and eat!).

Overall, this is a great stay, especially if you are in the city with kids. They are just so many things to do with kids in the area making your life a little bit easier especially if there is inclement weather and you can’t really go outside. If you’re really into the nightlife and trying different, restaurants Seaport is the location for you.
